Text Codes Overview
Text codes may be used as shorthand for frequently keyed phrases. Text Codes allow the firm to set up text abbreviations which represent words, phrases, sentences or paragraphs that are used repeatedly by the Timekeepers in the firm. Examples: TC - ‘Telephone conference’; IC - ‘Interoffice conference with’.
Text Codes may be used in any Transaction Narrative field as well as within Notecards, in the design of Financial Statement Layouts, and can be used to enter a past due note on bills that will change depending on the number of days past due of the oldest balance for that client or matter.
To use a Text Code in a Narrative field or on Notecards, first enter the Text Code (for example 'TC')and then press the <F2> function key to expand the Text Code to it’s full narrative (Telephone conference). Alternatively, Text Codes may be selected by selecting the Text Code from the lookup button. When selected from a lookup, the Text Code is automatically expanded into the its full narrative.
